ONCE UPON A TIME, THERE WAS A GUY NAMED NICK WHO LOVED PHOTOGRAPHY. HE LOVED IT SO MUCH THAT HE CREATED A SITE TO SHOWCASE HIS WORKS. NICK THEN CONTACTED A DESIGNER TO CREATE HIS DREAM LOGO. THIS IS THEIR STORY. *DA-DA*
NICK LOVES EVERYTHING ABOUT JAPAN AND THEIR CULTURE, BUT HE DID NOT KNOW WHICH WRITING SYSTEM TO CHOOSE FOR HIS BRAND. WHEN IT CAME TO THE GENERAL APPEARANCE, HE WAS AT A STAND STILL.
NICK COMPARED THE TWO AND PICKED "HIRAGANA." HIRAGANA FEATURED A CLEAN, HANDWRITTEN APPROACH WITH PLEASING BRUSH STROKES, AND BOLD OUTLOOK.
THEN NICK LOOKED AT JAPANESE SYMBOLS INSIDE OF SOME CIRCLES WITH A BOLD OUTLINE. ONE OPTION HAD AN OVER-EMPHASIZED REFERENCE TO MANGA. NICK DID NOT LIKE THAT ONE. NICK NEEDED SOMETHING BOLD, BUT NOT THIS TYPE OF LOGO.
NEXT, NICK LOOKED AT THE WORD "HIRO" WITH KATAKANA AND HIRAGANA SYMBOLS PLACED INSIDE THE "O." HE DID NOT LIKE THIS EITHER. WHILE IT LOOKED VERY BOLD, THE RED SINGULAR SHAPE GAVE TOO MUCH EMPHASIS/WEIGHT TO THE END OF THE WORD. MAKING "HIR" FEEL LEFT OUT.
SO THE DESIGNER DECIDED TO TRY THE MANGA APPROACH AGAIN, AND NICK STILL DIDN'T LIKE IT.
*SIGH*
THE LOGO APPEARED TO BE TOO BUSY AND WOULD GIVE THE LOGO PLACEMENT TOO MANY PROBLEMS IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
THE DESIGNER MADE A BLACK AND WHITE VERSION AS WELL, NOTHING CHANGED NICK'S MIND. IF ANYTHING, THE ROAD BLOCK PUSHED NICK TO START THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX.
BUT INSTEAD, THE DESIGNER PUT THE LOGO IN A BOX. NICK WAS FURIOUS, BUT THOUGHT IT WAS COOL.
THEN, NICK DECIDED THAT WHAT HE REALLY WANTED ALL ALLONG WAS A COOL KICK-ASS LOGO TO SHOWCASE HIS PHOTOGRAPHY'S POLISH AND SHINE. SO YES, THE DESIGNER LITERALLY MADE HIM A METAL LOGO
AND GUESS WHAT.
NICK LIKED IT.
THE END.
